This is what happens when you pull and tear all sorts of things in your ankle and don't take care of it.... 
One month later I'm in an air cast... They wanted to put me in a full calf boot, but I kindly informed them that it just wouldn't work for me. ("Kindly" is being used in a slightly sarcastic manner.) I sing in front of 700 people every weekend and a boot will just not work with my stage wardrobe... so we compromised on an air cast. I've resorted back to mostly flip flops for now... ballet flats don't work out so well with a cast on. Funny because the entire injury is a result of Ballet... oh well. I'll be twirling around again soon enough.

go for the boot..you could make us all wear them on stage.
ALSO, john is a wee bit stubborn for still wearing those shoes he so proudly displays in your picture..
